Developing Embedded Controls using PLECS/PIL

Embedded microprocessors (MCUs) and digital signal processors (DSPs) are found everywhere, from home appliances to portable devices and automobiles. According to ARM, a leading supplier of microprocessor technology, over 50 billion processors have been sold with ARM cores, many of them for embedded applications. In the future we expect MCUs and DSPs to become even more ubiquitous, as they simplify complex daily tasks and become indispensible in collecting and processing the “big data” we now rely upon.

Could be PIL method also useful to FPGAs as controller for power converters? The paper only talk about MCU but I hear that the new converters will be drive more efficiently using FPGAs.
